Our Approach

Shared decision-making, smallest effective doses, and close follow-up.

When We Consider Medication

  • Functional impairment despite behavioral interventions
  • Moderate–severe ADHD, anxiety, depression, or sleep dysregulation
  • Comorbidities after careful assessment and rule-outs

Safety & Monitoring

  • Informed consent; risks/benefits & side-effect education
  • Titration with measurable goals; vitals/ECG if indicated
  • School and family feedback loops to track outcomes

What Families Can Expect

  • Clear treatment targets (attention, mood, sleep, school function)
  • Regular check-ins with rating scales and side-effect review
  • Coordination with PCP/therapist; letters for school when needed

Medication Management

Thoughtful, evidence-based prescribing with ongoing monitoring, education, and collaboration.

Follow-up visit $250 • 30 min (Initial comprehensive evaluation required; Initial follow-up appointment included in intial evaluation fee • $750)

At SHIELD Psychiatry, medication is one part of a comprehensive plan. We begin with a full diagnostic review and then select the right medication based on symptoms, medical history, preferences, and lifestyle.

Each visit includes education for families and patients—how the medicine works, expected benefits, potential side effects, and what to monitor—so decisions are collaborative and informed.

We track response over time, adjust dose or agent as needed, and coordinate with schools, pediatricians, and therapists to support functioning at home and in the community.

For ADHD, we may integrate objective measures (e.g., QbCheck™) and rating scales to guide titration. Safety monitoring (vitals, weight, sleep, appetite, mood) is embedded throughout care.
