Mobile Crisis Response Teams

While Waiting for Help

  • Stay with the person and maintain continuous adult supervision when it is safe for you to do so.
  • Secure or remove firearms from the home. When possible, have firearms stored off-site by a legally permitted responsible adult.
  • Lock medications, including prescription medications, over-the-counter products, vitamins, and supplements.
  • Secure sharp objects, cords, ropes, alcohol, toxic substances, car keys, and other potential means of harm.
  • Keep the environment calm and avoid arguing, threatening, shaming, or leaving the person alone.
  • Follow the directions provided by 911, 988, the mobile crisis team, or emergency department personnel.
  • If you cannot maintain safety while waiting, call 911 immediately.
